Sadvidya Educational Institutions

About Us

Sadvidya Educational Institution was founded in 1854 by Sri. Periswamy Thirumalacharya.  At the behost of the then Maharaja of Mysore, Sri Gunja Narasimhiah donated a building which at present houses the management office, in the year 1870.

Sadvidya Girl’s High School was established in 1973 to commemorate the centenary celebration of the institution. Later, co-education was introduced.

Prof K. V. Arkanath

Prof K. V. Arkanath, whose name is indelibly associated with Sadvidya Educational Institutions, was a great visionary and a brilliant academician. When he took over the reins of Sadvidya and became the Secretary, he had the dream of restoring the glory of this historic institution and turn it into a centre of academic excellence. To realise his dream, he strived for more than two decades, planning meticulously and executing those plans in a systematic manner.

His foresight soon saw Sadvidya spreading its wings and the Sadvidya Semi-Residential College was established in Vijayanagar under the aegis of Kaveri Charitable Trust. Prof Arkanath’s careful supervision and guidance combined with the Co-operation of Management members and the efforts of dedicated teachers turned Sadvidya Educational Institutions into a leader within a short duration. Subsequent Managements and teachers have continued Prof. Arkanath’s noble legacy adding new dimensions to augment the growth of  ‘SADVIDYA’.

A revered academic legacy that has stood the test of time, dating back to its inception as Sadvidya Pathashala in the year 1854. Our institution, like a sturdy tree, has flourished and branched out over the years, imparting a blend of English and Sanskrit education with a vision that embraces both Oriental and Occidental knowledge.

Established with a noble vision and supported by philanthropists and royal patronage, Sadvidya has consistently upheld its commitment to providing culturally-rich and scientifically-enquiring education. The esteemed institution received blessings from the great Swami Vivekananda himself during his visit in 1892, inspiring us to disseminate the seeds of knowledge and empower the youth for nation-building.

Throughout its journey, Sadvidya Institutions has witnessed remarkable milestones and celebrated significant anniversaries, each marking a new phase of growth and transformation. Today, our roots run deep, firmly anchored in the pursuit of diligent, trust-worthy, and fruit-bearing education.
